Delete time limit for Equal Rights Amendment Op ED

Op Ed in Concord Monitor in Concord New Hampshire

by Zonta Club of Concord President, JANICE SEVERANCE

The Zonta Club of Concord, its board and its members, would like to publicly endorse the bipartisan effort to delete the time limit from the 1972 joint resolution to pave the way for the Equal Rights Amendment to become law.

As a member of Zonta International, we join women around the world who are empowering women through service and advocacy. It is time to join the other developed nations who specifically recognize the rights of women.

With the ratification by the state of Virginia’s General Assembly in 2020, the ERA has now satisfied all the requirements set forth in the Constitution, and Congress must now vote to change/eliminate the resolution inserted in 1972 that included a time limit on its passage.

The Zonta Club of Concord recognizes women’s worth, women’s rights, and women’s contributions by supporting the repeal of this limitation.
